2008-01-16 New Races Suggested - Cross Class Main

At the banquet we covered a concept that SCminiGP was working towards in the 2009 season. With the recent class changes and the overwhelming support of the Thumpstar GP classes we have decided to propose some of the concepts in our 2008 series.

Our class structure will consist of the following:

Amateur Jr
Blata Cup
Semi-Pro Jr
Semi-Pro Sr
50L
50H
Thumpstar GP
Formula GP
Pro GP (formerly 80GP)

As you know, we have worked hard to build a youth and adult class environment allowing for more even and fair racing. In some cases, it has been very successful (Semi-Pro Jr/Sr - 50 L/H) and in others it never gained traction (80V). However, we are confident that as a program we need to create an environment that support both adult and youth classes.

In an effort to better support this concept and provide more racing in one day we have decided to implement a "Cross Class Main's".

What is a Cross Class Main?

If a class has the same specifications but is split by either an Adult or Weight requirement, we will offer a Cross Class Main Race between those two classes.

Example Race Structure:
50 L Heat
50 L Main
50 H Heat
50 H Main
Additional Race: 50 L&H Main

This means that the class will get more than two races in one day with the same bike. The additional race will be added and allow both riders from each class to compete against each other. The Main Grid will be determined from the primary Heat of each class(50L Heat & 50H Heat). Each rider will be staged 1,2,3 based on their heat qualifying (i.e. 50L 1, 50 H 2, 50 L 3) and pole will be rotated each month.

This additional race will not be a championship class, no points will be awarded. The race will just be an additional oppotunity to race your bike against different riders on the same machine. Call it bragging rights!

The best thing about this Cross Class Main? IT IS FREE. Yes, the additional race will be offered Free of charge per your class entry.

Which classes will it apply too?

- 50L & 50 H
- Semi-Pro Jr & Semi-Pro Sr

- Thumpstar GP (once split by age/weight)
- Pro GP (once split by age/weight)

What do you get out of this? Free racing on the same bike and a chance to race in a much larger grid.

We want your feedback, so contact us to let us know what you think of this concept. Its up to the riders whether we implement but we feel it offers a better value for your dollar spent in racing and it benefits all riders in those classes (not just a specific motor type).

Feedback can be sent to:

A reply will be sent acknowledging your feedback along with any questions we might have. Feel free to discuss this with other riders on the forum but only emails or phone calls will be considered valid.
