2008-01-15 Phoenix Test & Tune Recap

The Phoenix Test & Tune was a huge success. The weather was great the entire weekend. Attending were Stage I Blata Cup Pocketbikes; Stage II Advanced Pocketbikes, and even a few Thumpstars showed up. Saturday morning started out with open practice followed by Individual Time Trials in the afternoon. Each rider riding the same bike trying to set the best time over a 5 lap session. We even had a few adult riders on the Stage I bikes posting some really fast times along with some good laughs. Saturday ended with a Pool/Pizza party at the hotel that was a lot of fun.

On Sunday we had open practice in the morning before afternoon racing. We ran the main races during the CCS lunch time and we had a large crowd of spectators. The small track provided some quick, but fun races. With passing at a minimum a good start was important. The highlight of the weekend had to be the adult 2.6 race. Danny and Paul really went at it on the smaller pocketbikes giving the crowd a race to remember. While the race was really close, assuming we forget about Paul cutting the track multiple times while having a cone stuck between his front tire and fairing, Danny barely took the win.

We were well received at Firebird Raceway and talked with many potential future racers and their families. We ran 6 kids through the Youth Intro Course which brings us up to a total of 10 kids that have completed the Youth Intro Course in December and January alone. Phoenix is really starting to ramp up and we can tell it won't be long until all 4 stages of the program are in place.

Overall everyone had a great time. We want to thank everyone who came out to the event and made it a huge success and a whole lot of fun!
