The last race of the season was simply outstanding! The weather cooperated both days with Sunday afternoon cooling down significantly. Once again we had racers travel from as far as Arizona and Oregon to participate in the great weekend of racing.
Blata Cup was a real nail bitter. Jason Aguilar (96) and Gabe Hernandez (29) went down together in the first lap leaving Andrew Zabzdyr (81) in the lead with Tyler Linders (27) in second with nothing between them. Jason was able to get up quickly and rejoin the race taking the lead back on lap 6. Tyler immediately forced the pass on Andrew for second and that's how the top 3 finished.
Semi Pro Junior was also a good race. Aaron Villasenor (9) checked out early and lead the entire race. The real battle was for second. Andrew Artolo (76) in third stalked Anthony DeHaven (57) in second for most of the race until making a move on lap 5. Anthony couldn't get back around Andrew and that set the top 3.
80GP was another notable race. Joe Roberts (127) took the early lead with Mookie "Mook Dogg" Wilkerson (136) in second, Benny Solis Jr. (20) in third, and Ryan Matter (22) in fourth. They stayed in this order until a crash on lap 5 caused a restart. Mookie got the holeshot on the restart with Benny, Joe, and Ryan in tow. Mookie held them off until lap 7 when Benny and Joe got around him. The last lap was a tight battle between Mookie and Ryan both battling for the championship in this class. Ryan made a great move in the last turn and ran it hard to the finish to take third and the championship by 1 point.
